A select collection of drawings from curious antique gems : most of them in the possession of the nobility and gentry of this kingdom : etched after the manner of Rembrandt
A two-volume plate collection of engraved antique gems assembled by the painter-etcher Thomas Worlidge and published in London in 1768 for collectors among the British nobility and gentry, recording carved stones in private cabinets. Each plate isolates a profile head or small figure inside an oval bezel with dark hatched ground, giving designers ready-made cameo medallions, seal shapes and classical profiles.
