Septem Asiae ecclesiarum et Constantinopoleos notitia
Thomas Smith's Latin survey of the seven churches of Asia and Constantinople, printed by François Halma at Utrecht in 1694 for scholars of Greek inscriptions and early church topography. The plates here are the printer's stock ornaments: black-line woodcut headbands of roses, daisies and scrolling foliage, and a basket tailpiece of flowers and fruit, usable as rules, dividers and small repeating borders.
