A Florentine biographical dictionary of painters, sculptors and architects, issued in 1769 by Gaetano Cambiagi's royal press with copperplate portraits by Sante Pacini, Giovanni Battista Cecchi and others, aimed at collectors and connoisseurs of Italian art history. The plates are half-length engraved portraits in three-quarter and profile view, most in caps, hoods and fur-trimmed robes, modelled in fine crosshatching against plain shaded grounds, useful for period costume reference, head studies, and engraved shading textures.
