A multivolume Florentine biographical series of 1769, printed by Gaetano Cambiagi at the Grand Duke's press, pairing eulogies of painters, sculptors and architects with copperplate portraits engraved by Sante Pacini, Giovanni Battista Cecchi and others for Italian collectors and connoisseurs. The plates are half-length portraits in fine engraved line and stipple, sitters in caps, gowns and collars set against plain hatched grounds, some holding brushes or resting on a ledge; useful for period headwear, drapery folds, and shading patterns built from crosshatch and dotted tone.
