A Florentine biographical series of 1769, printed by Gaetano Cambiagi for collectors of art history, pairing short eulogies of painters, sculptors and architects with copperplate portraits engraved by Sante Pacini, Giovanni Battista Cecchi and others after older painted likenesses. The plates are bust- and half-length portraits set against ruled or hatched grounds, with beards, ruffs, fur-trimmed robes, button rows and occasional brushes and sketch tablets, offering engraved face and fabric textures, uniform portrait framing, and a ready cast of Renaissance heads.
