A biographical series of illustrious painters, sculptors and architects, issued in twelve volumes in Florence from 1769 by the grand-ducal press under Gaetano Cambiagi, with copperplate portraits by Sante Pacini, Giovanni Battista Cecchi and others for collectors and academies. Each plate is a bust-length engraved portrait in oval or rectangular frame, modelled in fine crosshatching against plain grounds, with ruffs, beards and buttoned doublets.
