A series of picturesque views of seats of the noblemen and gentlemen of Great Britain and Ireland. With descriptive and historical letterpress
A six-volume survey of British and Irish country houses compiled by the naturalist Francis Orpen Morris, with chromoxylographs drawn by A. F. Lydon and printed by Benjamin Fawcett, issued in London by William Mackenzie around 1880 for a middle-class subscription readership. Each plate sets a house at middle distance across mown lawn, framed by trees under wide cloud, in soft greens and blues useful for landscape backgrounds, architectural silhouettes and period colour.
