The cost of shelter
A 1905 treatise on household budgets and housing standards by Ellen H. Richards, founder of the home economics movement, published in New York by John Wiley & Sons for middle-class householders and builders. The plates are measured floor plans of modest houses, with solid black walls, dimension strings, swinging door arcs, hatched stairs, and hand-lettered room labels usable as line-art pattern and diagram texture.
