A French technical manual on textile printing by the chemist Jean Persoz, published in Paris in 1846 for dyers, colourists and calico-printing manufacturers. The plates are tipped-in printed fabric samples and engraved cylinder patterns: vertical stripe bands in madder red, purple, black and white, and dense ikat-like zigzag and floral rollerwork that supply ready-made stripe palettes, repeat units and engraved texture fills.
