Polygraphice is William Salmon's handbook of drawing, engraving, limning, painting, dyeing and perfuming, printed in London in 1685 for the booksellers Passinger and Sawbridge, with plates by Frederick Hendrick van Hove, Thomas Cross and William Sherwin, aimed at apprentices and amateur practitioners. The plates are numbered copying exercises: a line-engraved standing woman in heavy drapery, and faint graphite studies of eyes, noses, mouths and half-modelled bodies offset onto facing leaves.
