Dyer's account book, Volume 2
A working dyer's account book from 1855, the second of two volumes, kept by a trade dyer who pasted finished fabric swatches beside handwritten yardage, dye-cost and recipe notes. The samples are small printed cottons — scattered flower sprigs and rosettes on plaid, dotted, hatched and solid black grounds in violet, green and madder red — usable as repeat patterns, ledger-page textures, and period colour pairings.
