Italian dyer's notebook
A working dyer's manuscript notebook compiled in Italy in 1856, kept as a private record of recipes for coloring wool and other textile fibers. Pages carry handwritten Italian entries in brown ink alongside swatches of dyed wool and stained paper tipped in beside them, giving reds, blues, ochres and browns as irregular tufts and blots; useful for palette sampling, texture overlays and the look of a warped, water-swollen page block.
