Measurement of Light and Colour Sensations

Lovibond, Joseph W. (Joseph Williams), 1835-1918 · 1893 · G. Gill · 2 pictures

A technical treatise by Joseph W. Lovibond, brewer and inventor of the tintometer, published in London by G. Gill in 1893 for scientists and manufacturers needing a repeatable standard for measuring colour. The plates are hand-coloured diagrams: circles divided into six wedges of red, blue, yellow and grey, and gradient scales of graded green, yellow and blue steps laid out as measuring bars, useful as ready-made colour wheels, swatch ramps and chart frameworks.
