The shores of the Adriatic, the Austrian side : the Kèustenlande, Istria, and Dalmatia

Jackson, F. Hamilton (Frederick Hamilton), 1848-1923 · 1908 · New York : E.P. Dutton · 134 pictures

An illustrated travel and architecture survey of the Austrian Adriatic coast — Istria, Dalmatia and the Küstenland — written and drawn by the English artist and teacher Frederick Hamilton Jackson and issued by E.P. Dutton in New York in 1908 for cultivated travellers and students of art. The plates are the author's own pen-and-ink drawings: stone arcades, well-heads, church interiors, carved doorways and harbour streets, built from dense hatching with blank sky, useful for line-based architectural detail and ornament.
