Sienesische Meister des Trecento in der Gemäldegalerie zu Siena
An art-historical study of fourteenth-century Sienese painters in the Siena picture gallery, written by the German critic Emil Jacobsen and published by Heitz in Strasbourg in 1907 for scholars and connoisseurs of Italian painting. The plates are coarse halftone photographs of panel paintings and frescoes, often two to a page, showing haloed saints, Madonna and Child groups, angels with sun and star emblems, and crowded ranks of heads under pointed gothic arches, useful for nimbus shapes, arched panel frames, and heavy-grained tonal texture.
