The Badminton Magazine of Sports and Pasttimes 1895-08: Vol 1 Iss 1
The first issue of a monthly British sports periodical published by Longman, Green & Co. in August 1895 for gentleman hunters, riders and game enthusiasts. Halftone plates reproduce older engravings of mounted hunts, hounds and coursing parties in wooded landscapes, alongside dark tonal wash drawings; useful for horizontal frieze-shaped hunting scenes and crowded figure-and-animal groups.
