Simboli predicabili : estratti da sacri evangeli che corrono nella quadragesima : delineati con morali, & eruditi discorsi
Carlo Labia's collection of preachable emblems drawn from the Lenten gospels, printed at Ferrara by Bernardin Barbieri in 1692 with plates after Antonio Zanchi engraved by Isabella Piccini, made for preachers building sermons. The repeated letterpress ornaments show grotesque masks, strapwork volutes, seated nude figures and sprigs of foliage in hard black line, usable as headpieces, frames and corner motifs.
