Simple rules and problems in navigation
A 1919 instructional manual of navigation rules and worked problems by Charles Hurst Cugle, published in New York by E.P. Dutton for merchant marine officers and students preparing for license examinations. The plates are bare black line diagrams: circles divided by radii and inscribed squares with lettered points, a compass circle marked with east and west deviation signs, and hand-lettered chart sheets where sight lines cross a latitude and longitude grid, useful for spare geometric figures and handwritten annotation on ruled ground.
