Sir Uvedale Price, On the picturesque : with an essay On the origin of taste, and much original matter
An 1842 Edinburgh edition of Sir Uvedale Price's essays on the picturesque, re-edited with added matter by Sir Thomas Dick Lauder for readers of landscape gardening and aesthetic theory. Forty-five wood engravings give British scenery as demonstration pieces: rough-barked trees, tangled woodland streams, moorland crags, and cattle in parkland, with heavy cross-hatched skies and vignetted edges useful as textured landscape spots.
