Six lectures on light : delivered in America in 1872-1878
John Tyndall's Six Lectures on Light, printed by D. Appleton in New York in 1886, sets out his American lecture-tour demonstrations of optics for general audiences and students. Wood-engraved diagrams show lamps, lenses, prisms and slotted wheels on tripod stands throwing rays onto dark screens, giving designers hatched beam fans, labelled apparatus silhouettes, and black discs with bright spectral bands.
