Sketch of Prof. John Le Conte ; [and] Sensitive flames and sound-shadows
An 1889 Appleton pamphlet from New York pairing a biographical sketch of physicist John Le Conte with W. Le Conte Stevens's popular account of sensitive flames and sound-shadows, aimed at general magazine readers. Wood-engraved line diagrams show wavefronts bending around an obstacle, arrowed sine curves, a gas jet and burner rig, and hanging tubes—usable as acoustic schematics, ruled field patterns, and small apparatus silhouettes.
