The sky movies
A popular astronomy primer by Gaylord Johnson, published by Macmillan in New York in 1922 to teach young readers to follow the changing night sky. The plates are coarse-screen halftone photographs of moons, planets and crescents as pale discs floating in dense grainy black, useful for star-field textures, glowing circular forms and dark-ground compositions with a single light source.
