Snow-snake as played by the Seneca-Iroquois
An ethnographic paper on the Seneca-Iroquois winter game of snow-snake, written by Arthur C. Parker, himself of Seneca descent, and printed at Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1909 for readers of anthropological journals. The plates pair outline drawings of throwing sticks — top, side, and cross-section views keyed A through D, with inch scales, incised bands, and painted star and fish markings — with a halftone of tapered pointed shafts, useful for slender horizontal forms, measured-diagram layouts, and small carved motifs.
