Sodoma
A 1906 Boston monograph from Bates and Guild on the Sienese painter Sodoma (Giovanni Antonio Bazzi, 1477?-1549), issued for American art students and collectors as a plate-and-text survey of his frescoes and altarpieces. Sixteen halftone reproductions show crowded fresco narratives inside painted grotesque borders, lunette compositions with tiled floors and arcades, a Holy Family in a wooded landscape, and close cropped heads of a bearded man and a kneeling angel useful for period faces, drapery and ornamental frame bands.
