Some famous paintings and their homes
A compilation by Mary Graham Duff, issued in Boston by the Soule Photograph Company in 1887, reproducing European paintings and the churches and museums holding them for American art students and collectors. The plates are sepia photographic reproductions of early Italian frescoes and panel paintings, including a profile portrait of Dante, a crowd scene of men in hose and caps, and a gabled Madonna enthroned with angels; the endpapers carry a small green sprig-and-berry repeat useful as a pattern fill.
