Some of the moderns
Frederick Wedmore's 1909 collection of critical essays on living British painters and etchers, issued in London by Virtue & Co. for collectors and readers of the art press. The plates are soft halftone reproductions of etchings, drypoints and oil sketches — open downland, terraced waterfronts, moored barges and rigging — offering broad tonal washes, smudged skies and dark spiky masts useful as atmospheric grounds or textured backdrops.
