Some points in choosing textiles
A 1917 University of Illinois household science bulletin by Charlotte Mitchell Gibbs, issued at Urbana to teach homemakers and students how to judge cloth before buying. Halftone photographs show swatches of wool and cotton laid flat against plain grounds—open plaid weaves, frayed cut edges, lettered comparison plates, and a close view of warp threads unravelling into loose fiber—useful as grayscale texture fills, fabric edges, and diagram-style specimen layouts.
