An English edition of Friedrich Fröbel's Mutter- und Koselieder, edited by kindergarten advocate Susan E. Blow and published by D. Appleton in New York in 1895 for mothers and kindergarten teachers. The plates are engraved piano-and-voice staves in short horizontal bands, with beamed note clusters, treble and bass clefs, expression marks like mf, dim., cres. and poco rit., and stray lines of song text beneath, usable as rhythmic line texture, borders, or clipped notation motifs.
