A 1611 Roman discourse by Girolamo Aleandro explaining the emblem of the Accademia degli Umoristi, printed by Giacomo Mascardi for the academy's learned membership. An engraved emblem plate shows a rain cloud over the sea in a strapwork cartouche with putti, fruit swags and the motto scroll, alongside woodcut foliate initials and a scrolling tailpiece ornament.
