Sorcellerie, magnétisme, morphinisme, délire des grandeurs
A study of witchcraft, hypnotism, morphine addiction and delusions of grandeur by the French physician Paul Regnard, published in Paris in 1887 for doctors and readers following the Salpêtrière work on hysteria and possession. The plates reproduce seventeenth- and eighteenth-century engravings of trials, exorcisms, convulsing bodies and levitating figures alongside clinical portraits, offering crowds in broad-brimmed hats, dense cross-hatched interiors and stock gestures of alarm.
