Sound
John Tyndall's course of Royal Institution lectures on acoustics, reissued by Collier in New York in 1905 for general readers and students of physics. The wood-engraved figures show laboratory apparatus—sirens with cranked toothed wheels, brass resonators on stands, tuning forks, hands gripping glass tubes—drawn in fine parallel hatching with numbered captions set sideways in the text, useful as cutout instrument silhouettes or technical diagram texture.
