Spalding's hand book of sporting rules and training, containing full and authentic codes of rules governing all popular games and sports
A rulebook and equipment catalogue issued by A.G. Spalding & Bros. in New York and Chicago in 1886, compiled by George H. Benedict for players, clubs and umpires of baseball, tennis, rugby and other popular games. The engravings are small trade-catalogue cuts of sporting goods, with heavy crosshatched shading and lettering set into the objects themselves, giving designers ready-made ball and racket emblems, period sans-serif display type and roundel trademark forms.
