The Spanish royal tapastries
A 1921 photographic survey of the Spanish crown's tapestry collection, compiled by Albert Frederick Calvert for London and New York publisher John Lane as part of his Spanish Series for collectors and students of decorative art. The plates are halftone photographs of whole hangings: crowded Flemish and Renaissance figure scenes framed by dense borders of fruit swags, flowers, grotesques and cartouches, useful as sources for ornamental frames, allegorical groupings and heraldic panels.
