Special exhibition of paintings by American artists at home and in Europe, Nov. 7-Dec. 26 : illustrated catalog
An illustrated exhibition catalogue issued by the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia in 1881, listing paintings by American artists working at home and abroad for visitors and buyers at the November-December show. The plates are pen-and-ink renderings of those canvases — hatched landscapes, seated figures, farm and shore scenes — with artists' signatures worked into the drawing and captions set below, useful for loose line texture and small tonal vignettes.
