Specimen historicum typographiae romanae xv. saeculi
A Latin bibliographical survey of fifteenth-century Roman printing, compiled by the French bibliographer François Xavier Laire and issued in Rome by Venanzio Monaldini in 1778 for scholars and collectors of incunabula. The plates are woodcut printer's ornaments: foliate headpieces with scrolled cartouches, a radiant sun face, and decorated initials useful as drop caps, dividers, and chapter openers.
