Specimen historicum typographiae romanae xv. saeculi.
A Latin bibliographical survey of fifteenth-century Roman printing, compiled by the French librarian François Xavier Laire and published in Rome in 1778 for scholars and book collectors. The plates are typographic ornaments: woodcut headpieces of scrolling acanthus and laurel, a radiant sun-face, putti flanking a cartouche, and a decorated initial S framed by torch-like balusters.
