A specimen of printing types
A type specimen book issued by the London typefounder William Caslon in 1798, printed by C. Whittingham to show letterforms and cast ornaments to printers and publishers. The 122 wood- and metal-cut images are small blank cartouches, laurel and acanthus wreaths, beaded ovals, floral swags and trophies of flags and horns, usable as empty frames for monograms, labels and headings.
