Specimens of ancient decorations from Pompeii
A folio of hand-coloured engraved plates recording Roman wall and ceiling paintings at Pompeii, drawn by architect John Goldicutt and engraved by Edward Finden for London architects and decorators in 1825. Plates show flat panel schemes in cinnabar red, black and cream, with candelabra columns, slender borders, floating winged figures and coffered ceiling grids ready for use as pattern and palette references.
