Stained glass as an art
A treatise on the principles of glass painting by Henry Holiday, an English designer of windows, published by Macmillan in London and New York in 1896 for craftsmen, architects and students of the medium. Plates mix halftones of medieval windows with the author's own line cartoons: roundel and medallion grids, lancets of standing draped figures, tracery lights, and leadwork drawn as a visible black lattice over the imagery.
