Star-land; being talks with young people about the wonders of the heavens
A popular astronomy book for young readers by the Irish astronomer Robert Stawell Ball, published by Ginn & Company in Boston and London in 1899 and based on his lectures to children. The plates are wood-engraved and line-block telescopic views: sunspots on a blank solar disc, a shaded planetary globe ruled in fine horizontal lines, lunar craters in stipple, and white star points scattered on solid black grounds.
