Steam navigation

Woodcroft, Bennet,1803-1879 · 1847 · [London] · 32 pictures

A technical history of steam navigation compiled by Bennet Woodcroft, patent engineer and later head of the British Patent Office, published in London in 1847 for engineers, shipbuilders and patent readers. The plates are fine outline engravings of paddle steamers in deck plan, side elevation and section, with paddle wheels, boilers, cylinders and gearing drawn as flat diagrams on pale paper, useful as ready-made machinery schematics, hull silhouettes and measured-drawing line work.
