Stephen Daye and his successors; the establishment of a printing plant in what was formerly British North America and the development of the art of printing at the University Press, of Cambridge, Massachusetts. 1639-1921
A commemorative house history of the University Press at Cambridge, Massachusetts, issued by the firm itself in 1921 to mark printing in New England from Stephen Daye's 1639 press onward, for customers, collectors and the printing trade. The plates are sepia pen-and-ink sketches of clapboard and brick colonial houses, Harvard-style halls, columned porticoes, cupolas and wrought-iron gates, framed by loosely hatched trees and open sky — useful for line-drawn architectural vignettes and monotone header panels.
