Stichtelyke rymen op verscheiden stoffen : waar van ontrent de helft nooit voor-deesen gedrukt zijn : hier in order gestelt in twee deelen
A Dutch emblem book of devotional verse by Jan Huygen, illustrated with copperplate engravings by Jan Luyken and printed in Amsterdam in 1700 at the author's expense for Protestant lay readers. The plates are small upright scenes—a shepherd with arms flung open, cattle and sheep grazing under a hard-rayed rising sun, a kneeling figure at a desk with skull and hourglass, a table of readers under cloud-borne cherub heads—with skies built from ruled parallel hatching that designers can lift as ready-made radiance and cloud textures.
