The stones of Venice : v.2, the sea-stories
The second volume of John Ruskin's architectural history of Venice, issued in London by Smith, Elder in 1853 for British readers of art criticism and Gothic and Byzantine building. The wood-engraved figures show paired window openings, pointed and round arches, capitals and shaft profiles, drawn with dense hatching for rough stone and dark voids, useful as architectural spot ornament, arch outlines and texture patterns.
