Carlo Fea's annotated Italian edition of Johann Joachim Winckelmann's history of ancient art, printed in Rome by the Pagliarini press in 1783 for antiquarians and artists studying Greek and Roman remains. The plates are fine-line engravings: measured elevations, plans and sections of temples carrying dimension figures and scale bars, alongside details of cornices, coffers, masonry courses and small coin profiles, useful as sparse linework, hatch textures and measured-drawing conventions.
