The story of Siena and San Gimignano
A volume in J. M. Dent's Mediaeval Towns series, Edmund G. Gardner's 1902 history of Siena and San Gimignano for English travellers and readers of Italian art, illustrated by Helen M. James. The pen-and-ink drawings give brick arcades, carved portals, tiled roofscapes and aqueduct arches in open hatching, with small figures and carts for scale, usable as line vignettes, architectural details and hand-drawn texture fills.
