The story of the Union Jack; how it grew and what it is, particularly in its connection with the history of Canada
A popular history of the Union Jack and its use in Canada, written by Barlow Cumberland and published by William Briggs in Toronto in 1897 for general and school readers. Numbered wood-engraved plates show flags on staffs — saltires, crosses, combined jacks — rendered in flat black and ruled line shading, useful as clean heraldic silhouettes and as examples of engraved tonal hatching.
