Studies in primitive looms
An ethnographic survey of hand weaving technology by H. Ling Roth, reprinted from the Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute and issued at Halifax in 1918 for anthropologists and students of textile craft. Pen drawings and engravings show looms in use, warp threads under tension, and half-finished cloth with geometric pattern bands, giving designers linear diagrams, repeating weave motifs, and figures at work.
