Studio international
Studio International, the London art monthly begun in 1893 as The Studio, reported on painting, design and the decorative arts for practising artists, craftworkers and collectors. Its plates are halftone reproductions of contemporary paintings and drawings — wooded riverbanks, cliffs under heavy cloud, draped figures beside water — with soft grey tonal ranges, smudged foliage and strong dark-to-light massing usable as backgrounds or texture.
