Studio international
The Studio was a London art periodical begun in 1893 and issued by Cory, Adams & Mackay for artists, designers, craftworkers and collectors following contemporary painting and applied art. The plates here are halftone reproductions of landscape paintings and watercolours, printed in soft greys: a tree-shadowed road, a hillside procession toward a church, cattle on a flat shore under heavy cloud — useful for muted tonal washes, silhouetted foliage masses and low horizons.
